Starfox (Harry Styles), who appears in Marvel’s Eternals as Thanos’ sibling, has raised concerns about his influence within the MCU. Given that Thanos (Josh Brolin) is one of the most formidable adversaries that the MCU’s heroes have faced, it stands to reason that a character who is connected to him could be extremely strong. His brief debut in Eternals didn’t reveal much about his abilities or his fighting prowess, though.
The film barely touched on Harry Styles’ MCU character, although it did hint that he might play a significant role in upcoming Eternals-related films. Starfox, also known as Eros, made a triumphant arrival in the mid-credits sequence with the help of his sidekick, Pip the Troll, who described the former as a prince of Titan and a galactic hero with a remarkable resume. Starfox is in a position to be a strong ally to the Eternals moving forward and perhaps even a future member of the Avengers in Phase 5 if all Pip mentioned about Thanos’ brother and his intergalactic travels is even remotely accurate.
Starfox’s relative strength in the MCU and how he stacks up against his sibling are interesting questions to consider. What the superhero might offer is revealed by how he was used in Marvel Comics. His unique ability to telepathically control a person’s brain’s pleasure centre served as his trademark in the comics. This, however, was far from the full scope of his abilities. Starfox was a superhero who could fly and had extraordinary strength on par with but somewhat inferior to Marvel’s most powerful characters, such as Spider-Man, Beast, and Wolverine. Hulk, Thor, and Thanos were not in the same league as Starfox. Therefore, while having a lot of raw force, he was never able to defeat his brother by himself.
Starfox likely would have fared better against Thanos than the majority of the heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame if his abilities are even remotely similar to those of his comic book version. And even though he might have had the strength to contribute if he had been present during the final battle of Endgame, he would have fallen short in a one-on-one confrontation. Starfox can harm him and is quick enough to avoid some of his attacks, as shown in the comics, but he often fails to withstand Thanos’ physical power in lengthy fights.
The good news for Starfox in the MCU is that he won’t have to fight his brother in any upcoming films as a result of what happened in Endgame. It’s possible that the villain’s murdering rampage wouldn’t have lasted as long if he had what it took to defeat Thanos. In fact, there’s a potential that the two have already engaged in physical conflict. If so, when Starfox next appears in an MCU film, further information about his past with Thanos and life before Eternals might be revealed.
