  • DCS

With Stranger Things season 4, we’re going back to the 1980s, so grab a can of New Coke, your walkie-talkies, and your Dungeons & Dragons board! The first instalment of the eagerly awaited season was released today, and fans have already started binge-watching the seven brand-new episodes.

After the events of the season 3 finale, the Byers and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) are now residing in Lenora Hills, California, where season 4 is set. Jim Hopper is the only one remained in Hawkins, Indiana, while the rest of the group is still there (David Harbour). We were led to believe that Hopper had perished in the Starcourt Mall explosion in the season 3 finale, but it turns out that he is actually still alive and well, although a prisoner in Russia.

What’s happening to the rest of the Hawkins bunch, then? Since season 3 finished, a new school year has begun, and they are preparing for Spring Break. We get a glimpse of Hawkins High School, their interactions with one another, and the activities they participate in.

Minor spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4 part 1.

Season 4 of Stranger Things opens with Steve (Joe Keery) taking Robin (Maya Hawke) to school while they discuss their romantic relationships. A bandmate named Vickie (Amybeth McNulty) is the object of Robin’s crush. She and Steve make another allusion to Tammy Thompson, and this character even appears in the season!

Who is Tammy Thompson in Stranger Things?

We don’t blame you if you heard the name Tammy Thompson and couldn’t place the person! She is just briefly mentioned in season three of Stranger Things, and she doesn’t show up until season four. When Steve and Robin are lying down in the restroom stalls, Robin confesses to Steve that she is the girl she has a crush on. Robin finally comes out to Steve at this point. Watch the clip down below!

In season 4, Steve makes fun of Robin for having feelings for Tammy and remarks that her singing is Muppet-like. Tammy apparently thinks she’s a fantastic singer and will sing whenever she gets the chance. Robin shrugs it off but later attempts to make Vickie laugh by using the same joke.

Tammy arrives at the school that afternoon to perform the national anthem before the basketball game gets underway. When Tammy begins singing out of tune, Steve and Robin look at each other from their seats and chuckle. She then whispers to him that he was correct—Tammy does sound like a muppet. Vickie, who is standing right next to Robin, overhears her and remarking that she sounds like Kermit, agrees. Following a shared chuckle, Robin begins to confess to Vickie her former crush on Tammy. Vickie doesn’t hear her, though, and when she requests a clarification, Robin only states that the two of them were in the same class.

Tammy and Vickie don’t play major roles in Stranger Things season 4 volume 1, but we anticipate seeing more of the former in volume 2.
