The Expanse Cast : A Detailed Look Into The Main Characters

The Expanse is back for its final season and is based on the well-known James S.A. Corey science fiction novel series. Following SyFy’s cancellation of the show at the conclusion of its third season, a fan movement featuring some well-known supporters, including Patton Oswalt, Wil Wheaton, and George R.R. Martin, generated enough publicity for Amazon Prime to step in and buy up the show for its remaining three seasons.

Here is a quick recap of the cast as the show prepares for its curtain call.

Amos Burton (Wes Chatham)

Amos is a Baltimore-area Earther who works as the Rocinante’s mechanic. When violence breaks out, he may be a little bit of a loose cannon and becomes almost giddy with enthusiasm. When he defends and saves Clarissa Mao after the attack on Earth, he exhibits his softer side in Season 5. After seeing Naomi’s friendship with him, Holden begins to trust him after first being wary of him.

Wes Chatham has been in The Unit and In The Valley of Elah, but Castor from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 is likely his most well-known role.

Camina Drummer (Cara Gee)

Image courtesy of Syfy Drummer is a Belter who served as the Medina Station’s former captain and Fred Johnson’s deputy on Tycho Station. During the raid on Thoth Station, she played a key role in negotiating the terms of the agreement with the Rocinante’s crew. She has a close friendship with Naomi. She and her polyamorous family are currently in the Sohiro territory aboard the Dewalt as the skipper.

The TV programme Strange Empire and the web series Inhuman Condition are where Cara Gee is best known for her work.

Carlos “Bull” De Baca (José Zúñiga)

Bull worked on Tycho Station for Colonel Fred Johnson. According to appearances, Bull will join the crew of the Rocinante for the final season in place of Alex Kamal (Cas Anvar).

José Ziga has spent the majority of the previous three decades playing characters in television series including ER, The O.C., and How to Get Away with Murder, to mention a few.

Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo)

Avasarala, who is serving as the UN’s acting secretary general, frequently uses the Rocinante’s crew as her (informally appointed) eyes and ears. She has made questionable decisions that have lost her not only her political posts but also her family. She is a career politician. She is one of the most formidable individuals in the universe, thus she will rely on Holden and his team to help her beat Marco and the Outer Planets Alliance.

Since the middle of the 1970s, Shohreh Aghdashloo has performed in both film and television. She received an Academy Award nomination in 2003 for The House of Sand and Fog, and in 2008, she took home a Primetime Emmy for her performance in House of Saddam.

Clarissa Mao (Nadine Nicole)

Clarissa is the older sister of Julie Mao and the daughter of Jules-Pierre Mao of Luna. Amos refers to her as “Peaches” in a loving manner. When she set out to exact revenge on James Holden for revealing her father’s criminal operations, she was operating under the guise of Melba Alzbeta Koh. She is ultimately detained and imprisoned on Earth for her misdeeds. Whether Holden likes it or not, she will be joining the crew of the Rocinante for the final season after being saved by Amos.

Nicole was promoted from a recurring to a series major role in Season 5 of The Expanse after appearing in recurring roles on the TV programmes Dante’s Cove and The Young and the Restless.

Filip (Jasai Chase-Owens)

Filip is the adolescent son of Naomi and Marco. Filip is constantly trying to win over his father because Marco has taught him to despise his mother, Naomi. Since he finally met his mother face to face, it’s difficult to tell what he’s thinking, but so far, all we’ve seen is allegiance to Marco.

Filip is Jasai Chase Owen’s first significant television role despite having only a few acting credits to his name.

James Holden (Steven Strait)

After his ice-hauling ship, The Canterbury, was sunk, Holden was named the Rocinante’s captain. He joined the UN Navy after being born on Earth but was later dishonourably discharged. Like other heroes, he is first reluctant, but he has demonstrated throughout the series that he is willing to play the part the solar system needs him to.

Steven Strait played the lead in the movies 10,000 BC and The Covenant. Additionally, he is a musician who has written songs for numerous movie soundtracks.

Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander)

Marco is a radical from the Outer Planets who has a strong dislike for the Inner Planets. When Naomi learned how extreme he was going to be for the cause after destroying the Augustin Gamarra, she decided to leave him and baby Filip. Additionally, Marco was part in the bombing of Earth, the bombing of the MCR Parliament, the Free Navy Conflict, and the takeover of Tycho Station. As we enter the final season, he appears to be the major enemy.

Keon Alexander is most known for his parts in the YouTube original Impulse and the FX series Tyrant.

Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper)

Engineer Naomi is a Belter and works for the Rocinante. We recently learnt that she had a child with Marco Inaros whom she hasn’t seen since he was a newborn, despite the fact that she seldom ever discusses her past. She cut ties with Marco when she became aware of his aggressive inclinations. She has a relationship with Holden at the moment and has grown close to Amos because of their difficult pasts involving violence.

Tipper has roles in the movies MindGamers and Vampire Academy before The Expanse.

Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Draper (Frankie Adams)

Martian Gunnery Sergeant Bobbie Draper, the only survivor of the conflict on Ganymede Station, joins Avasarala as a bodyguard. She was accused of treason by the Martian Congressional Republic, but after revealing the plot behind Project Caliban, she was exonerated of all charges.

Adams has been a series regular for The Expanse since Season 2. She is most known for her leading role in the New Zealand television series Shortland Street and the movie One Thousand Ropes.

Rosenfeld Guoliang (Kathleen Robertson)

This season marks Kathleen Robertson’s debut on The Expanse. She is arguably best recognised for her leading performances in Beverly Hills, 90210, Boss, and Murder in the First. Her character Rosenfeld will play a significant role in Marco Inaros’ crew and is a fervent supporter of Belter freedom.

Sandrine Kirino is played by Krista Bridges, Admiral Tesfaye is portrayed by Andrea Davis, Josep is played by Samer Salem, Michio is played by Vanessa Smythe, Oksana is played by Sandrine Holt, and Monica Stuart is portrayed by Anna Hopkins.

On Amazon Prime, the first five seasons are all accessible. The Expanse’s sixth and final season debuts on December 10.
