8 Most Anticipated Horror Movies We’re Looking Forward To In 2023

We’d like to inform you in advance of a top-secret popular trend: watching scary films. Everyone you know that is hot and cool is doing it. If you haven’t kept up with the most recent releases in the genre, you should be aware that horror has made a significant resurgence. Scary movies have finally recovered from the plague of the drab and forgettable franchise sequels of the 1980s and 1990s, and are once more exciting—and actually horrifying.

Some of the biggest films of the previous year were horror flicks, thanks to A24’s X and Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and major studios like Paramount’s Scream. Unfavorable news for everyone who is afraid—especially those who passed out during Terrifier 2. Many of the must-see films of this year are the creepy, spine-tingling variety. In the meantime, what can we expect from the horror genre till 2023? Here are the spooky movies that we are most anticipating watching and being genuinely terrified by.

Haunted Mansion (August 11)

Do you recall the first Haunted Mansion film? Although the movie, which was released in 2003 and is based on a Disney World attraction, has had a significant cultural impact, it has been a long time coming. This time, a completely fresh cast will battle the bizarre haunted mansion. In this Disneyfied romp, a number of celebrities—including Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, and Owen Wilson—will demonstrate their proficiency in the horror film genre.

Insidious: Fear the Dark (July 7)

James Wan’s Insidious launched a fresh franchise with a tale of a family moving into a new house, only to be immediately haunted by demons that try to take their kid over. Patrick Wilson, the actor of the Insidious movies, will now make his directorial debut. We are eager to hear his interpretation of the tale that made him a Scream King.

Knock At the Cabin (February 3)

M. Night Shyamalan is a master of the horror genre who has given us classics like The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Split. But he’s not the type to take it easy. The director opens 2023 with yet another terrifying tale. This time, the family being held prisoner at their cabin will be our focus. This well-known but horrifying premise will undoubtedly be given a Shyamalan-esque twist.

M3GAN (January 6)

This dancing robot doll will be amazing to watch in action. This fall, when the teaser for M3GAN released and a zillion memes started to circulate, Twitter was shattered. We can already smell the M3GAN Halloween outfits coming from months away since M3GAN has such a distinct personality. She reminds us of girlboss Chucky.

Renfield (April 14)

Count Dracula played by Nicolas Cage? Renfield, his bumbling henchman, played by Nicholas Hoult? Sounds like the fulfilment of a campy horror fan’s fantasy. The most recent portrayal of the renowned Dracula characters will hopefully be the best with a cast consisting of seasoned comedians (see: Awkafina and Ben Schwartz).

Saw X (October 27)

You did read that correctly. A tenth instalment of the already popular and deadly Saw franchise is coming. Saw is another James Wan original that has been frightening audiences for many years. Jigsaw actor Tobin Bell will reprise the part. Even while it might feel like Saw has imagined (and replicated) every conceivable grisly death, a potentially epic tenth sequel may have even more gruesome surprises in store.

Scream VI (March 10)

The Scream sequel from 2022 shown that this series can be repeatedly recreated and yet excite audiences in fresh ways. There will be some recognisable faces back, such Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere. Scream VI will undoubtedly be a must-watch with tonnes of blood and new killers out there.

The Nun 2 (September 8)

In 2023, the ninth instalment of The Conjuring movie series will welcome (and frighten!) us. After the original Nun movie terrified viewers to the point of insanity, a sequel was swiftly revealed. Taissa Farmiga will reprise her role as Sister Irene and take the lead in this all-new prequel to the epic tales of the Conjuring universe.
