Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 On Netflix : 6 Things You Must Know About Before Watching Season 2

The Vikings sequel spinoff, Vikings: Valhalla, took over the popular franchise, arrived on Netflix as part of the 2022 TV schedule, and quickly became another historical fan favourite. Given how much people love Vikings, which amassed a very devoted fanbase during its six seasons on History, it came as no surprise. The eight episodes of the drama were packed with action, and the Vikings: Valhalla Season 1 finale provided us with a variety of surprises and surprising double crosses to keep us interested in what might happen next.

What will happen next, though, is a legitimate concern. Is Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla assured? Will the actors be back? When could we anticipate seeing it? Is Leif going to pose a greater threat this time? We do, however, have the answers to these and other questions for you right now.

Vikings: Valhalla Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Thankfully, Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 will answer many of the concerns that Vikings’ blockbuster debut season left unanswered, so fans need not be concerned that their questions will never be answered. Harald, Freydis, Leif, Queen Emma, and the rest of the plotting, fighting Valhalla gang would return for another set of episodes, according to a Netflix announcement made early in March, only a few days after Season 1’s launch. Season 3 had also been given the go-ahead. The good news keeps coming, too!

Season 2 Filmed In 2021 And Production Wrapped In November

guys, that’s right! In addition to the fact that Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 is unquestionably on the way, Netflix stated in its renewal announcement that the second batch of episodes has already been shot in 2021. Vikings: Valhalla stunt performer Caroline Simonnet informed her Instagram followers that filming on the “EPIC” second season has finished in Ireland at the beginning of November.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Is Expected To Air In 2023

The only slightly disappointing piece of news is that Netflix will not be airing two seasons of Vikings: Valhalla in 2022, contrary to what you would have expected. Oh no, buddies. The upcoming season isn’t anticipated to premiere until 2023, so they’re going to make us wait a little longer.

Jeb Stuart, the series’ creator, writer, and showrunner, said to Digital Spy in February 2022 that the Season 2 finale’s editing was nearing completion and that he was “eager to get it out there.” So, at the very least, it appears that Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 will be ready for a 2023 premiere and that we won’t have to wait more than a year to start seeing all of the new adventures. (Ewwww… I’m sorry.)

Most Of The Main Cast Is Expected To Return, And There Might Be One New Player

Fans of the cast of Vikings: Valhalla who admired how they brought their frequently cunning characters to life and interacted with one another are in for a treat. Leo Suter will reprise his role as King Harald, Frida Gustavsson will reprise her role as Freydis, Sam Corlett will reprise his role as Leif, Bradley Freegard will reprise his role as King Canute, Pollyanna McIntosh will reprise her role as Queen lfgifu, Jóhannes Jóhannesson will reprise his role as Olaf, Laura Berlin will reprise her role as Queen Emma, David Oakes will reprise his role as Godwin

However, it’s unlikely that we’ll see actors like Caroline Henderson (who played Jarl Haakon), Lujza Richter (who played Leif’s valiant love, Liv), Asbjrn Krogh Nissen (who played Jarl Kre), or Louis Davison (who played Prince Edmund), as their characters did not survive the first season’s bloody battles and cunning plots.

But! There does appear to be at least one very significant new Vikings player in the near future: Valhalla. Early in May 2022, Deadline announced that actor Florian Munteanu, well known for his roles as Razor Fist in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Viktor Drago in Creed II, has joined the cast. It’s unclear whether Munteanu, who is now starring alongside Chris Pine in The Contractor and will soon play Krieg in the much awaited Borderlands adaptation, will be a part of Season 2, the following season, or even both. In any case, Munteanu will play another historical figure from Valhalla, George Maniakes, a general in the Byzantine Empire.

We’re Going To See “Old Testament Leif” In Season 2

The Vikings: Valhalla character, Leif, was quite kind and kind when not engaged in combat, as fans will likely recall, even if he was great in combat. However, things seemed to alter when Olaf killed Liv in front of him in the dramatic conclusion. As TV Guide interviewee and star Sam Corlett put it:

He has felt a great deal of accountability for their lives throughout the season. Many of them go lost, and near the end, he develops a loving bond with Liv, who dies in his arms. There is a strong sensation of loss. There is a strong feeling of shame. That is expressed in an extremely ferocious, brutal, and primitive manner.

And it appears that people who questioned if Leif would permanently start acting more dangerously like his father were right. Jeb Stuart stated to the source:

There’s a dark side to me that I kind of keep under covers, Leif admits to Liv at one point, but as long as she’s in his universe, he can go on. I believe that Erik the Red is coming out when Olaf brutally yanks her from his reality. You’ll see that in Season 2, and we refer to it as sort of the Old Testament Leif.

Oh, boy. Leif deserves my sympathy, but, really? I am really excited!

The Vikings Will “Explore” More In Season 2

Stuart said that Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 would see several of our favourite characters travel much farther than they did in Season 1, when members of the crew travelled to England and destroyed that renowned bridge. He said to Newsweek:

It will be quite intriguing to observe how the Vikings are forced out of Scandinavia in Season 2, in my opinion. We are aware of the Vikings’ travels… They excelled as traders. So it stands to reason that you can reasonably assume that my Vikings will board their boats and do a little bit of exploring.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 sounds like it’s going to be an exciting adventure with lots of surprises for viewers, and you can bet I’ll be one of them as soon as the new season is available on Netflix!
