To put it mildly, Viola Davis is a complete icon. She’s not only the first Black actress to win the “triple crown” (an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony), but she’s also played pivotal roles in some of the most talked-about films and television programmes of the past ten or so years and has put forth a lot of effort on behalf of her numerous activist and philanthropic causes. It turns out that she has already begun to transmit her love of acting down to her daughter, Genesis Tennon, who made her big-screen debut in 2019’s “The Angry Birds Movie 2” in a voice-acting role.
Genesis Tennon
According to a 2011 People article, Genesis, now 12 years old, was adopted by Davis and her husband Julius Tennon as a newborn. In an interview with the magazine in 2019, Davis talked about her daughter, Genesis, and said that her love for her “surpasses anything that I could want from the material world.” She said to People “I help her see that she must view everything as a source of joy. Even her flaws, successes, failings, and appearance—everything. Even if none of those things change, that is all a part of her liking herself.”
Tennon has two children from a prior relationship, while Genesis is the only daughter Tennon has ever known. Genesis has occasionally seen with her parents as she’s gotten older and occasionally appears on Davis’s Instagram, but right now, she’s quietly beginning a little career of her own!
