Weasley Family Tree: Major Details You Might Have Missed Or Forgotten About The Weasley Family

Because of their prominent role in the “Harry Potter” series, the Weasleys have gained widespread recognition, yet there is a lot about this family of pure-blooded, red-headed wizards that average moviegoers are unaware of. According to “Harry Potter” lore, a book titled the Pure-Blood Dictionary, which served as a compendium of all the last pure-blood wizarding families in Britain, was released in 1930. Although they won’t ever mention it in conversation, the Weasleys were listed as one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. The Weasleys really disassociated themselves from the book after it was published and immediately questioned its sources, claiming that they had been mingling with Muggles for years.

The more zealous pure-blood families began to see the Weasleys as traitors from that point on, which they wore as a badge of honour. In the movie adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” Lucius Malfoy made fun of his family for “associating with Muggles,” and Arthur Weasley responded, “We have a totally different concept about what disgraces the name of wizard.” He violently combats Malfoy in the novel. Fans of “Harry Potter” know that Arthur has a borderline obsession with Muggles rather than merely being tolerant of them. Although Arthur Weasley was not the first Weasley to take a stand against the pure-blood fever taking root in the shadowy corners of the wizarding world, his curiosity with the non-magical people ensured that his children grew up with respect for Muggles.

We’re going to break down the Weasley family tree into four generations, so get ready to know your Weasleys.

Arthur Weasley is related to the Black family

Have you ever questioned Arthur Weasley’s obsession with Muggles? His parents, who were star-crossed lovers from rival pure-blood families, are probably to blame. Septimus Weasley, his father, had a romantic relationship with a member of the Very Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. The Black family’s family mot to, “Toujours Pur,” which translates to “Always Pure,” places them squarely at the other end of the spectrum when it comes to treating half-blood wizards and Muggles equally. As a result, the response was harsh when young Cedrella Black revealed her feelings for a Weasley lad to her parents, Arcturus Black II and Lysandra Black, who were unsurprisingly as cruel as they seem.

In addition to opposing the union, Arcturus and Lysandra also threatened to disown Cedrella if she went through with it, which is exactly what transpired. She changed into Cedrella Weasley, and the Black family tapestry burnt her face (the same would happen to Sirius Black when he ran away from home aged 16). Three boys were eventually born to Septimus and Cedrella, and one of them was named Arthur. Fans were able to identify Arthur’s parents from a statement Sirius made in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” even though J.K. Rowling never wrote about them. The tapestry supported his claim that Arthur was like his “second cousin once removed.”

Arthur Weasley met Molly at Hogwarts

Arthur and Molly Weasley (née Prewett), like all their children, were assigned to Gryffindor House. When they first enrolled at Hogwarts in the early 1960s, things weren’t all that different. Students would sneak out in the middle of the night, Gryffindors would clash with Slytherins, and Molly reportedly recalled getting in trouble for returning to the girls’ common room at four in the morning after a late-night stroll with Arthur. Anti-Muggle prejudice was rampant outside of Hogwarts, and Arthur and Molly had only been out of school for a few years when the First Wizarding War started.

When the war started, many couples got married, as Molly would later admit. In chapter five of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” she said: “It’s all this uncertainty with You-Know-Who coming back; people think they might be dead tomorrow, so they’re rushing all kinds of decisions they’d normally take time over.” She continued: “It was the same last time he was powerful, people eloping left, right, and centre.” She continued to elaborate, claiming that she and Arthur “were intended for each other” and would have wed anyway. They were married at the start of the war and had seven children between 1970 and 1981, when it was declared to be finished. During the conflict, Death Eaters assassinated Molly’s brothers Fabian and Gideon Prewett, who were both initial Order of the Phoenix members.

Bill and Fleur’s daughter ended up with Teddy Lupin

Victoire, Dominique, and Louis Weasley, three girls born to Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, were their children. The younger two are little understood, but Victoire Weasley, the oldest child, is considerably better understood. Victoire Weasley was given her name because she was born on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts (it means “victory” in French). Victoire made a big impression on her younger cousins during the epilogue because she was the final character in the “Harry Potter” book series to be presented. Teddy Lupin, the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, was seen “snogging” the blonde witch when the extended Weasley family arrived on Platform 9 3/4.

Teddy, a part-werewolf who had lost his parents in the Battle of Hogwarts, came to look up to Harry Potter as a father figure in the years that followed. Although being married to Victoire—something the cousins were obviously extremely interested in—would have made it official, he was already regarded as a member of the family. 2014’s Quidditch World Cup was attended by the Weasley family, and Teddy and Victoire were still dating. Rita Skeeter, a trashy journalist, wrote in her column that Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weasley “may like to know that their lovely, blonde daughter Victoire appears to be attracted to any dark corner where Master Lupin happens to be lurking.” The good news is that they both appear to have figured out how to breathe via their ears.

Bill Weasley married Fleur Delacour

The oldest member of Arthur and Molly Weasley’s family is William “Bill” Weasley. Bill was born on or about November 29, 1970, in the early years of the First Wizarding War, according to The Harry Potter Lexicon. In spite of the fact that he was never afraid to flout the rules, he started his tenure at Hogwarts in 1982 and eventually rose to the positions of Head Boy and Prefect. In the canonical video game “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery,” we learn that Bill started looking for the fabled Cursed Vaults as soon as he arrived at Hogwarts, which proved to be excellent practise for his future job: after graduating, he became a Curse Breaker for Gringotts.

After the Death Eaters assaulted the 1994 Quidditch World Cup final, Bill opted to accept a desk job back in Diagon Alley. He had spent some time stationed in Egypt and had even given the Weasleys a tour of the tombs when they arrived on a vacation. He joined the Order of the Phoenix, and after meeting a certain French witch at the Triwizard Tournament, he was able to assist Harry. The following year, when Fleur Delacour accepted a summer work at Gringotts, Bill and the Beauxbatons champion became closer. After only a year of dating, Bill would pop the question to the part-Veela (magical people with golden hair and radiant skin) beauty. On August 1, 1997, they got married despite the Ministry of Magic collapsing the same day and Death Eaters barging into the ceremony.

Charlie Weasley continued working with dragons

Charles “Charlie” Weasley, the second child of Arthur and Molly Weasley, was born in 1972. In “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” a British actor by the name of Alex Crockford had a very brief appearance as Charlie; you can see him in the family photo from Egypt. However, the character was completely gone from the films. Charlie left Hogwarts the year before Harry Potter, which explains this. He served as a Prefect and served as the Gryffindor Quidditch team captain (Harry took over as the team’s seeker), but his true area of strength was in the Care of Magical Creatures class.

As a young child, Charlie had an obsession with dragons to the extent where he attempted to transform the household pets into dragons using homemade masks and paper wings. However, he wouldn’t get close to his favourite magical animals until after graduation: he landed a job at a dragon sanctuary in Romania, the same one that Hagrid’s baby Norwegian Ridgeback ended up going to. In his third year, he sneaked into the Forbidden Forest hoping to come across a dragon (big brother Bill went with him, fearing for his safety), but he wouldn’t get up close and personal with his favourite magical creatures until after graduation:

When the Second Wizarding War started, he joined the Order of the Phoenix, but Albus Dumbledore urged him to stay in Romania and keep a watch on Europe. Charlie moved back to Romania to carry on his work after Voldemort was defeated, but he came to England to participate in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Fred and George were born on April Fool’s Day

The twins Fred and George Weasley were born on April 1st, 1978, making them the fourth and fifth members of Arthur and Molly Weasley’s family. The twins were natural-born pranksters who adored tormenting their siblings. Ron Weasley’s terrible arachnophobia is actually a result of Fred, who arrived on the planet just before George. Ron once remarked, “It’s not funny.” If you must know, when I was three, I broke Fred’s toy broomstick, so he turned my teddy bear into a huge, filthy spider. The twins also possessed a gift for gab, which would be useful after they finished school.

While their older brothers all excelled at Hogwarts, Fred and George didn’t even complete their degrees. They left after growing weary of the Ministry’s intrusive mouthpiece Dolores Umbridge’s authoritarian rule, wreaking havoc in their wake (Professor Flitwick managed to cordon off and preserve a small portion of the swamp they left in one of the hallways, and he couldn’t help but be impressed by the magic involved). Harry Potter provided some financial assistance as they set up their own joke shop in Diagon Alley. Wizard Wheezes by the Weasleys became a big hit, but disaster was waiting for the twins.

The Battle of Hogwarts explosion that killed Fred was arguably the most tragic event in the entire series. According to Rowling, Harry passed away with “the ghost of his final laugh still imprinted onto his features.”

George Weasley married fellow Gryffindor Angelina Johnson

During the Second Wizarding War, George Weasley lost an ear, but that anguish was nothing in comparison to losing his twin brother. Both Harry Potter and the Weasley family were greatly heartbroken by Fred’s passing. When they discovered Fred was dead, he and Ron Weasley intended to find and murder as many Death Eaters as they could, but Hermione Granger reminded them that the best retaliation would be to locate Voldemort’s final Horcruxes and eliminate him permanently. However, Percy Weasley had that covered because he was battling with Fred when he passed away, and after transferring his brother’s body to the great hall, Percy erupted into a frenzy and fled in the direction of Death Eater Augustus Rookwood.

For the duration of the conflict, no further Weasleys perished. Later, George would honour his deceased twin by naming his kid after him. He had two children with none other than Angelina Johnson, a former Quidditch teammate from Gryffindor (Fred and George both played as beaters for their house). In “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” Angelina served as Fred’s date to the Yule Ball, the holiday celebration held in honour of the Triwizard Tournament winners. She and George would become close because of their shared sorrow, get married, and begin a family with a boy named Fred Weasley II and a daughter named Roxanne Weasley. George continued Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes in remembrance of his brother.

Ginny Weasley gave up a Quidditch career to start a family

Ginerva “Ginny” Weasley, who was born in 1981, was the first female Weasley in many generations, though she would bring another girl into the family when she had her own children. When Ginny was a young girl, she started to have feelings for her family’s friend Harry Potter. Eventually, Ginny’s feelings for Harry were shared. With his marriage to Ginny, Harry formally joined the Weasley clan. The couple had three kids: James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, and Lily Luna Potter, who was named after Harry’s mother and the couple’s childhood friend Luna Lovegood.

Even though they were a Quidditch family from the beginning, the Weasleys saved the best player for last. After graduating from Hogwarts, Ginny played for the Holyhead Harpies as a professional, first as a chaser and then as a seeker for the Gryffindor team (an all-female team founded in 1203). When Ginny and Harry decided to have a family, she put her broom away, but she stayed active in the sport, taking a job as a Quidditch writer at the Daily Prophet.

Ginny was working when the Weasley family went to the 2014 Quidditch World Cup final in Argentina. Rita Skeeter, who appeared more interested in the presence of Ginny’s “publicity-hungry” husband, covered the event live beside her. According to Ginny, Skeeter “became unaccountably ill with what some are calling a hex to the solar plexus.” Ginny was overseeing the Prophet’s Quidditch coverage as the newspaper’s sports editor by the year 2020.

Percy Weasley named a daughter after his mother

Percy Weasley, born in 1976, is the third-oldest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley. Percy was a troublemaker who frequently argued with his brothers. He attended Hogwarts as a Prefect and then as Head Boy. As a result, it was not surprising when he followed in his father’s career path and accepted a position at the Ministry of Magic after graduation. Percy attributed Arthur Weasley’s extended tenure in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office on a lack of ambition. The enthusiastic newcomer began his career as a junior assistant to Cornelius Fudge in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, working first for Minister for Magic Barty Crouch Sr.

When the Second Wizarding War started, Percy and his family had a major falling-out. In support of Fudge’s denial that Lord Voldemort had returned, Percy referred to his father as a “idiot” for supporting Dumbledore. In order to be closer to his place of employment, he left The Burrow—the eccentric country house of the Weasley family—and moved into a London apartment. Even when his mother mailed him his knitted Christmas sweater, Percy returned it. He would ultimately atone for his actions by joining the battle against the Death Eaters at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Percy remained employed by the Ministry after Voldemort was vanquished and rose to the position of Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. They had two daughters, Molly and Lucy Weasley, after Harry wed Audrey.

Ron and Hermione’s daughter got her mother’s brains

Ronald “Ron” Weasley, the sixth son of Arthur and Molly Weasley, had “a lot to live up to” when he first boarded the Hogwarts Express in 1991. In school, his brothers had always raised the bar, and little Ron felt very much in their shadow. Everyone anticipates that I will perform at the same level as the others, but if I do, it won’t matter because they already accomplished it, he stated. While Ron battled a lot in his early years—breaking his brother Charlie’s hand-me-down wand didn’t help—he proved to be more than adept when asked to contribute to the fight against Voldemort.

After the Second Wizarding War, Ron was appointed an Auror, the Ministry’s first line of magical law enforcement, by the new Minister for Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt. He left after a while to work alongside George at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Hugo Granger-Weasley and Rose Granger-Weasley, who were born roughly two years apart, were born as a result of his marriage to his childhood friend Hermione Granger, who would go on to become Minister for Magic. Hugo is a mystery, but we do know that Rose evolved into a wise witch. When she initially arrived at Hogwarts in 2017, Ron wished her luck, saying, “Thank God you inherited your mother’s intelligence.” She wasn’t entirely Hermione, though; Rose followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Rose Granger-Weasley and Albus Potter fell out at Hogwarts

Rose Granger-Weasley and Albus Potter were great friends when they were kids. When the cousins started attending Hogwarts together in 2017, the family believed that this would continue to be the case, but things didn’t proceed as expected. They noticed Scorpius Malfoy sitting by himself in a compartment when they boarded the Hogwarts Express. Rose decided to find a different place to sit knowing all about the Malfoys, but Albus chose to stay and keep Scorpius company. When Albus was placed in the Slytherin house shortly after the two boys arrived at the school, tensions between the cousins only grew more tense.

But it soon became clear that Scorpius was nothing like his father at school. Draco Malfoy never had a good word to say about Hermione Granger, but his son liked Granger’s twin daughter. When Scorpius and Albus managed to get their hands on a time-turner and tried to stop Cedric Diggory from dying at the Triwizard Tournament all those years ago, they mistook a young Hermione for Rose. They were being misled by Delphini, a young woman posed as a Diggory but who was actually Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange’s child.

Rose started to see that not all Slytherins were bad when Scorpius and his father contributed to stopping Voldemort’s secret daughter, and her friendship with Albus improved as a result. Scorpius continued to insist that they would eventually get married, but she continued to refuse to go out with him.
