On Netflix, there are dozens and hundreds of good to great films, but for every good film, there are three awful ones. Naturally, perspectives change and everyone has a different take on this or that picture, but let’s face it: there are a lot of movies that can’t be called decent in any manner and should be at the absolute bottom of your list, if at all. Nonetheless, this does not negate the fact that they can be entertaining to watch and should be kept in a dark cellar away from prying eyes for all eternity.
Who doesn’t like making fun of how bad a scene is, laughing at the characters’ un-laughable jokes, or betting with a friend on what the next cliché is that will normally propel the plot forward? Everyone has their own reasons, so whether you want to watch them or keep them out of your next movie session, here is a list of truly poor Netflix movies.
Coin Heist (2017)
This is a Netflix original with a fascinating premise. It tells the story of four students who devise a plot to break into the United States Mint in order to steal millions for the survival of their school. It reminds us of the adolescent bunch from ‘The Breakfast Club,’ and it’s entertaining to watch since the actors are excellent and the characters are well-defined. However, the tale lacks reality (things aren’t that easy to pull off), there are pointless sentences that make it look pointless and dumb in the midst of an ocean of clichés, and it simply lacks some kind of charm that we can latch onto. However, it is not nearly as bad as the other films on this list, so you’ll have to try it to find out.
Father Of The Year (2018)
In this Netflix original comedy short, David Spade and Nat Faxon play as two college graduates who, in a drunken haze, consider what might happen if their fathers got into a fight. In an absurd turn of events, their fathers take this proposal seriously and get into a violent brawl, which leads to further tragic repercussions. The film’s idea is far too absurd to be taken seriously. Watching this film in one sitting is a form of agony I would not recommend inflicting on yourself.
Game Over, Man! (2018)
Before joining together to feature in this Netflix original film, Adam DeVine, Blake Anderson, and Anders Holm had previously worked together on the sitcom “Workaholics.” The film’s plot centres around three housekeepers who work at a posh Las Vegas hotel. When they’re not doing their regular jobs, the three friends collaborate on a video game they’re creating. When their project’s investor is kidnapped, the three of them are transformed into heroes on a mission. This film can be compared to a subpar version of ‘Die Hard.’ There isn’t a single memorable character or scene in the entire film.
‘Mercy,’ a Netflix original film, begins with a lot of promise, with four brothers who aren’t on good terms visiting their dying mother for the last time. As the four of them come together, a lot of their past resurfaces, and we see that the family is full of suppressed rage and anguish. Soon after, masked figures break into the house, putting the lives of the five people inside in grave danger. The film, on the other hand, never attempts to explain why this house invasion is taking place. Furthermore, the narrative abruptly jumps to a previous point in time in the midst of the film to describe a story arc in depth. However, we never grasp why this explanation was required in the first place. This film is probably one of Netflix’s poorest productions, thanks to sloppy script and terrible direction choices.
Polar (2019)
Mads Mikkelsen is a fantastic actor with a screen presence that few can match. Even him, though, requires a screenplay that is somewhat engaging in order to put his best foot forward. Mikkelsen plays Duncan Vizla, an international assassin who wishes to retire from his perilous job and live a quiet life in this 2019 Netflix original drama. When the group Vizla works for asks him to carry out one more hit for them, he refuses, and the organization dispatches some of its best hitmen to eliminate Vizla. We have a very good idea of what will happen next. The characteristics that this film rides on include blunt characterizations, a rather basic storyline, and sexual objectification. This is a movie you may want to avoid.
Rebirth (2016)
Kyle is a normal middle-aged man who gets a surprise visit from an old buddy who is excited about a new program called “Rebirth” and pushes Kyle to attend a weekend retreat with this program where all connections to the “real world” are severed. As you can expect, things take a risky and unusual turn. The entire film is strange and poor in comparison to what it promises at the outset. It certainly soars to new heights only to crash to a halt in a dreadful conclusion that will have squandered your time in the meantime.
Sextuplets (2019)
Marlon Wayans plays seven different roles in this comedy film directed by Michael Tiddes. Alan Daniels, the first character we meet, is a guy about to become a father. When he goes to see his mother, she informs him that he has five other siblings, all of them were born as sextuplets together. When Alan learns of this, he goes out to meet all of his siblings and form bonds with each of them. He meets Dawn first, and she then joins him on his mission to meet the others. While the most of his siblings are criminals, one has infantile paralysis. First and foremost, the plot is far too ludicrous to be taken seriously. Even if we do connect with it, the majority of the characters are so ridiculous that you will quickly lose interest. Wayans deserves credit for his efforts, but this picture is far too cringe-worthy to merit any kind of admiration.
Silence (2019)
This Netflix original horror film stars Kiernan Shipka and Stanley Tucci and is based on Tim Lebbon’s book of the same name. The movie starts with researchers excavating a cave from which bizarre creatures emerge and slaughter them. Soon after, these animals began killing a large number of people, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency across the country. The plot then changes to the Andrews family, with teenager Ally advising them to relocate to the countryside, where they will be safer and more tranquil. The Andrews, on the other hand, have more problems in the countryside. They run into a dark sect that are after Ally for their own reasons. Ally’s other senses are highly developed despite her loss of hearing. Although the acting in this film are excellent, the plot is uninteresting. The movie feels like a shoddy rip-off of the excellent 2018 picture ‘A Quiet Place.’
True Memoirs Of An International Assassin (2016)
A writer develops a fictional novel about an assassin, but when his publisher transforms it to a non-fiction biography, he finds himself forced to play the lead character he created in order to survive the adventures that await him. The plot premise is interesting, and the film can be enjoyable; unfortunately, the characters are unlikable, the storyline is flat and cliché (at times even offensive), and the action is too cheap to get into and believe in. However, it may be amusing to others because it does not contain any of the most offensive humor ever seen on screen, and it’s a fun film to watch if you don’t take it too seriously. But, with so many wonderful films to choose from, what is the ideal way to spend two hours of an evening?
The Do-Over (2016)
The concept isn’t entirely horrible, but the execution isn’t. The plot revolves around two men, Charlie (David Spade) and Max (Adam Sandler), who decide to adopt new identities and fake their deaths in order to restart their lives. The trap that will lead them into extended action-packed escapades is that the identities they have assumed belong to criminals who are in far more danger than they were when they initially started. Of sure, some people will find it amusing, while others will not, but the fact that it is a lousy film is self-evident. Although entertaining, there isn’t much to say about it other than stating the obvious: it’s a worthless and dumb film with inoffensive and unfunny humor.
The Kissing Booth (2018)
Elle Evans, a high school student, is the central character in this Netflix original comedy. Elle and her best friend Lee had made a pledge to each other that they will never date each other’s family members. Elle and Lee, for example, were born at the same hospital and have been great friends since they were toddlers. These two storyline points are enough to justify the inclusion of this film on this list. Now get ready for something even worse. What would you do if your school asked you to make a fundraiser item? You can think of a lot of various ideas, but will one of them be a kissing booth? In the first place, whose school on the planet allows their kids to construct kissing booths? But Elle and Lee do just that, and it is here that Elle has her first kiss, with Lee’s older brother Noah, unsurprisingly. You may not be able to finish this film in one sitting due to its terrible writing. The performances are also quite poor.
The Last Laugh (2019)
In this 2019 Netflix original film, Richard Dreyfuss and Chevy Chase star as the main characters. Buddy Green, played by Richard Dreyfuss, is a retired stand-up comedian who has lived a tranquil life for a long time. Green agrees to come out of retirement when his former manager Al Hart encourages him to, and the two embark on a cross-country tour. Despite having some of the best comedy actors in the world, the film falls flat due to weak writing and a boring narrative.
The Outsider (2019)
Jared Leto is an Oscar winner who can easily slip into any role and deliver a convincing portrayal. In this action film set in Japan, however. He is always excessively stiff and straight-faced. Throughout the movie, his facial muscles barely move. In this film, Leto portrays an American soldier named Nick Lowell who was imprisoned in Japan during WWII. He saves a yakuza member from being hanged while in prison, and the yakuza ask him to work for them in exchange. He quickly establishes himself as a useful asset and is initiated into the clan. Nick’s violent nature, on the other hand, quickly becomes a major source of anxiety for the clan and leads to a lot of difficulty. The film’s set designs and cinematography are the only things worth praising. The plot is quite thin, and none of the characters are particularly well-developed.
The Ridiculous 6 (2015)
Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler returns with a film that will leave you in a state of sorrow. Despite the fact that “The Ridiculous 6” is a Netflix original, and despite the fact that its title already implies that it is a fully open and clear parody, it is simply lousy, terrible, and awful. Sandler plays “White Knife,” a Native American man who discovers he has five other half-brothers and sets out on an adventure to find their father. This western comedy contains a lot of childish jokes, but they’re not really appropriate for children, and some of them aren’t even humorous enough to be made, so it’s a little confusing and out of place. After all, isn’t a comedy that doesn’t amuse somewhat pointless?
