‘Zombieverse’ is a Netflix South Korea original that lives up to its name in almost every aspect imaginable. It is a half-drama, half-reality entertainment series that is unmatched. This is due to the fact that it follows ten different popular figures as they struggle for survival after unknowingly finding themselves in the middle of a “zombie outbreak” in the beautiful city of Seoul. Here is what we know. We say around since this cast does occasionally end up in adjacent towns and at a theme park, leading us to wonder if these locations are even real.
Is Hwangchon-Ri a Real Town?
Hwangchon-Ri, which was portrayed in the production as a rather small rural community outside of Seoul that doesn’t actually permit many visitors to enter, originally struck me as being just the right amount of charming. That is, until it was discovered that the “zombie virus” had infected this somewhat remote, run-down location weeks before it really reached any large cities, making it considerably more hazardous than initially thought. This was especially true considering that Lee Jun-Hyeok, the town’s chief, made every effort to keep it a secret due to his mother’s infection, but in the end, he too became bitten.
