The Cast Of The Iconic Thriller ‘American Psycho’: Where Are They Now?

  • DCS

American Psycho debuted in theatres on April 14, 2000, 22 years ago.

The satirical psychological horror movie centres on Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), a wealthy investment banking executive in New York City who hides his other, psychopathic persona from his coworkers and acquaintances. He becomes further mired in his self-indulgent and violent fantasies throughout the film.

The cast of the Mary Harron-directed movie also included Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Josh Lucas, Samantha Mathis, Matt Ross, Bill Sage, Chloe Sevigny, Cara Seymour, Justin Theroux, Guinevere Turner, and Reese Witherspoon. The script, co-written by Harron and Turner, was adapted from Bret Easton Ellis’s book of the same name.

The movie made $34.3 million at the international box office after having its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. While some reviewers praised Christian Bale’s performance, others felt that American Psycho was excessively violent.

Mila Kunis and William Shatner starred in the direct-to-video sequel American Psycho 2, which was released in June 2002. A TV show based on the movie had previously been planned but never materialised.

Additionally, in 2016, Rupert Goold directed the Broadway production of American Psycho, which starred Benjamin Walker as Patrick Bateman and featured music by Duncan Sheik and a script by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
