The PG-13 rating, according to the Motion Pictures Association of America, strongly cautions parents against watching material that can be inappropriate for young children under the age of 13. Given that criterion, we believe it is reasonable to estimate that about 60% of all films made annually are labelled PG-13, which suggests that many of our favourite films may be covered by the rating.
Even if the criterion is extremely broad, it can include a large number of recent and well-known films. R-rated films are for the more serious genres, while G and PG-rated films are primarily for Disney features, animations, and pictures with a strong child theme. The remaining films may fit anywhere in this range, although a good many of them end up falling into the PG-13 classification. But that doesn’t in any way make the movie less good. Furthermore, let’s face it—after all, isn’t the whole purpose of movies—they can provide the ideal diversion after a trying day?

Always Be My Maybe (2019)
“Always Be My Maybe” is a charming tale of friendship between two childhood friends, Sasha and Marcus, who were close friends and neighbours growing up. But since then, they have been estranged from one another, and at the beginning of the movie, they haven’t communicated for around fifteen years. But eventually, they cross paths again and are reunited in each other’s life.
Sasha is a famous chef; Marcus currently plays in a small rock band. The two longtime friends unexpectedly cross paths with one another and click immediately. Marcus acknowledges to his father that, despite having a girlfriend named Jenny, he had fallen back in love with Sasha. The chef is in love with someone she recently met, which is the only issue. Candy Jar (2018)
The main characters of “Candy Jar” are Lona Skinner, a high school student, and Bennet Russell, her adversary. Lola and Bennet are intolerant of one another and express their animosity towards one another at any opportunity. But both put their best foot forward when it comes to winning the debate team president title, knowing that it will boost their college applications. Despite their distaste for one another, the principle makes them serve as co-presidents. When they work together for the first time, their relationship takes a dramatic change, and since they have a lot in common, there may even be a touch of romance developing. Here is where you may view the film.
Starring as plus-size teen Willowdean “Will” Dickson, played by Danielle Macdonald, her mother Rosie (Jennifer Aniston) refers to her as “Dumplin.” One of the main organisers of the content for the town’s beauty pageant is Rosie. As a result, Rosie is inherently all about shape, which in their mother-daughter dynamic manifests as a brick. Will decides to enter the pageant as a way to “protest in heels,” which leads to more complications. Will she succeed? Will it make her problems with her mother go away? “Dumplin” is a compelling film that conveys a powerful message of self-assurance and body positivity. Here is a link to stream the film.
Dune: Part One (2021)
“Dune: Part One,” or simply “Dune,” is a science fiction epic directed by Denis Villeneuve. Because of its grandiose scope and stunning spectacular effects, it is regarded as one of the greatest in its genre. The film, which stars Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, and Zendaya, is based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name. It takes place in the future and features the ocean planet Caladan’s Atreides family. The family travels to the desert planet Arrakis, led by Duke Leto Atreides, where Leto will supervise the mining of “spice,” a material that enhances consciousness and senses and permits space flight. In accordance with Emperor Shaddam IV’s directives, Leto assumes leadership from Baron Vladimir Harkonnen of the interplanetary organisation that all planets are a part of.
Shaddam, however, is plotting with Vladimir in order to eliminate the Atreides. Conversely, Leto hopes to form a partnership with the Arrakis locals, the blue-eyed Fremen. Paul Atreides, Leto’s son, enters the picture here. There are many enigmatic visions, and Paul believes he has a higher purpose in life that involves a Fremen girl. A fight between the Atreides and Harkonnen’s armies is developing as he makes his way across this strange world and all of its mysteries. Watch the movie right here.
Enola Holmes (2020)
There is no way that you can avoid thinking about Sherlock when you hear the name Holmes. However, Netflix adds a brand-new, very welcome, character to the franchise. In it, Enola, the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft, starts looking for their mother after she vanishes inexplicably on her 16th birthday. She is the only one, after all, who can truly compete with her well-known brother.
When you want something lighthearted yet still amusing, “Enola Holmes” is a terrific choice to watch. The movie is just a simple mystery that does a fantastic job of drawing the audience in. Helena Bonham Carter, Sam Claflin, Henry Cavill, and Millie Bobby Brown are among the ensemble cast members. It is available for streaming here.

They were invited to a secret game by Bron, even though Benoit was not on his list. Who then sent him the invitation? The true riddle, however, emerges when one of Bron’s buddies passes away after consuming a drink from Bron’s glass. Benoit, however, quickly solves Bron’s mystery game. Imitation Game (2014)
The film, directed by Morten Tyldum, is based on the life of British scientist and mathematician Alan Turing, who broke the Enigma by becoming the main contributor to the development of a machine that could decode the Germans’ Enigma code for communication during World War II. “Imitation Game,” which is based on Andrew Hodges’ 1983 book “Alan Turing: The Enigma,” depicts Turing’s personal and professional life and delves into his romantic feelings for his boarding school friend Christopher Morcom, who passed away from disease when they were both enrolled in school.
The complicated emotions that Alan Turing harboured throughout his life—which culminated in his suicide when he was given a chemical castration instead of a prison sentence for his “gross indecency”—make “Imitation Game” an intimate look into the life of one of history’s greatest scientists, whose discoveries eventually paved the way for the development of contemporary computers. In addition to Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech, Matthew Beard, Mark Strong, and Charles Dance, Benedict Cumberbatch portrays Alan Turing. Watch the movie right here.
Although Margaret Qualley is already well-known for her performance as Pussycat in Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” we frequently overlook the fact that the same year, she starred in an original Netflix film. The “IO” tale takes place in a time when excessive pollution has made Earth livable. The human race was forced to relocate to a space station close to Jupiter’s moon.
Scientist Sam Walden is one of the few humans who is still alive on Earth, and he wants to change this for the better by any means necessary. She does run into another person who tries to persuade her to reconsider. Sam, though, is certain that salvation is achievable. She finds romance, renewal, and the opportunity to enjoy life anew in spite of this barren and lifeless landscape. The movie is a must-see and has a really intriguing premise. Here is a link to stream “IO.”

Here is where you may view “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.”
Murder Mystery (2018)
Both Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are major comedic superstars who have enjoyed decades-long, wildly successful careers at the top of Hollywood. As a result, interest in the Netflix original movie “Murder Mystery,” starring the two formidable talents, was already very strong.
Sandler portrays New York City police officer Nick Spitz in this movie. His wife Audrey (Aniston) feels that their marriage has lost its spark, so in an attempt to rekindle it, the two take a vacation to Europe. At the airport, the couple meets a quite wealthy man who extends an invitation for them to visit his family yacht. Audrey and Nick accept without hesitation, and pretty long, they’re surrounded by grandeur they’ve never experienced. When a murder occurs and they are thought to be the perpetrators, their happiness abruptly collapses. Before things spiral out of control, the two must solve the case on their own. The two major actors’ performances alone make the movie an impossible watch, even though it doesn’t provide anything new. Here is where you may view it.
One of the most gifted directors working today is Bong Joon-Ho, as you may already know if you’ve seen films like “Parasite” and “Memories of Murder.” He has always chosen subjects for his films that are somewhat unconventional, but with “Okja,” he did venture into a more commercial area. However, this does not imply that the film is only a commercial production with no depth.
The movie presents a compelling case against technology attempting to alter animals’ natural forms and in favour of protecting natural resources. The main character of “Okja” is a young child named Mija who is entrusted by a large corporation named Miranda Corporation to care for a genetically altered pig. She had no idea that the business would eventually want the pig returned so it could cut its meat and sell it in the market. Mija follows them to ensure the safety of her cherished pet, Okja, when they send someone to bring the pig back to London. You may view “Okja” right here.
The Adam Project (2022)

They have the ability to save the Earth once they locate their father. However, they must come to terms with their father’s passing and support one another in their grief. The audience finds the voyage entertaining because the two Adams are not very fond of one another. Throughout their trip, they have humorous talks as a result of this. This is where you may watch “The Adam Project.”
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
One of the best science fiction franchises now available is the “Cloverfield” series. These films have taken a pretty novel approach to the idea of an extraterrestrial invasion since the first one came out in 2008. Rather than focusing on large monsters and their destructive powers through computer-generated imagery, they tend to focus more on setting a certain mood.
We learn how the aliens originally came to Earth in the series’ last and last episode, which functions more like a prequel. The novel takes place in a future where energy supplies are running out and there is imminent conflict over them. In order to install a particle reactor that would supply the planet with endless energy in such a scenario, Earth sent a team of astronauts to the Cloverfield Station. While the majority of people support this concept, some believe it would create wormholes between parallel universes, which could lead to extraterrestrial attacks. Although the movie falls short of the genius of its forebears, it does offer an intriguing background to them. You can view it right here.
The Gray Man (2022)
The Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” are the directors of the action thriller “The Grey Man.” A CIA assassin named Six (played by Ryan Gosling) is shown in the film obtaining a chip from his dead target, who happens to be a member of the same programme that Six is a part of. According to the theory, the chip holds incriminating information on Six’s boss, Denny Carmichael (Rege-Jean Page). Carmichael hires veteran CIA agent Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) to track down Six since he can’t take the chance that Six will obtain the intelligence. The film tells the story of whether Six is able to dodge Hansen and establish Carmichael’s guilt. Here’s where you can view “The Grey Man.”
The Half of It (2020)
In the lovely coming-of-age comedy “The Half of It,” we meet Ellie Chu, a very quiet student who lives with her father, who has passed away. She agrees to assist Paul Munsky, a football player, write a love letter to his crush, Aster Flores. Ellie is hesitant to do it at first, but she ultimately decides to go ahead and even arranges a date. The remainder of the film follows Ellie as she makes an effort to comprehend her own emotions.
The storyline is a positive move in the right way and supports the LGBTQ community. It puts a contemporary spin on some pretty weighty subjects, like sexuality, love, and religion. When you consider how few films nowadays have the same impact on popular culture as “The Half of It,” this is all the more admirable. You are welcome to see the film here.
The Two Popes (2019)
Jonathan Pryce plays future Pope Francis, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, in this biographical drama; Sir Anthony Hopkins plays Pope Benedict XVI. The Cardinal is summoned to a meeting with Vatican City after he resigns as Archbishop of Buenos Aires. There, disguising some of his own feelings, Pope Benedict XVI steadfastly refused to sign his resignation. Following the highly publicised Vatican leaks controversy, the two have a frank discussion about their respective roles in the pope.
The film “The Two Popes” is both magnificent and endearingly hilarious. We believe that the movie is one that you should see because it also manages to have some quite elegant theological discussions. You can view it right here.
The Woman King (2022)
Gina Prince-Bythewood is the director of “The Woman King,” a historical action drama starring the outstanding Viola Davis. The fictional tale honours the real-life Dahomey Amazons, also known as the Agojie, an all-female military corps of the West African kingdom of Dahomey that served from the 17th to the 19th century and was well admired and respected. In the film, Davis plays the captain of the regiment, General Nanisca, who begins training a new class of recruits in response to an Oyo Empire threat that seeks to destroy Dahomey and everything it stands for. Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, John Boyega, and Jimmy Odukoya make up the remaining cast. Davis gives a strong performance, making “The Woman King” a fascinating viewing. You may see the movie online here.

Tick, Tick… Boom! (2021)
“Tick, tick, boom!”is based on the life of playwright Jonathan Larson (Andrew Garfield), who died on January 25, 1996, the day before the Off-Broadway preview of his third play, Rent. The show would go on to become one of the Broadway theatres’ longest-running productions. Under the direction of Broadway author Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Tick, Tick… Boom!”” is the title of one more of Laron’s three plays. The others are “Superbia,” “Tick, Tick… Boom!”, and “Rent,” which is the third and last play. The film sheds light on Larson’s life and demonstrates how, at one point, he even gave his career choice some thought. You can view it right here.
