Starz Cancels Dangerous Liaisons Season 2 After First Renewing It

  • DCS

The highly anticipated historical drama “Dangerous Liaisons” debuted on Starz on November 6. The stage displayed the performance starring Alice Elgert and Nicholas Denton, which transported us to the good old Victorian era where we wore heavy gowns and had tea parties at daybreak.

Period dramas are tough for both viewers and the network because they teeter on the line between having the potential to be the platform’s highlight and making it impossible to envision the show’s future.

The reason I mention this is because Starz, a streaming service, has some unfavorable news for those keeping tabs on Dangerous Liaisons season 2.

The network is coming with even more depressing news despite a remarkable renewal just days after the show was made available on the platform. If you want to learn everything, read this article.

Dangerous Liaisons Cancelled at Starz Despite Renewal

The recently launched historical drama received a second season renewal from the streaming service Starz not even a full moon ago. Dangerous Liaisons, an action-packed historical drama series that was recently renewed last month, has been canceled by Starz after one season.

Variety has been informed that the show has been canceled by the cable network. Before the first episode of Season 2 of “Dangerous Liaisons” debuted in November, the season was ordered in November.

As new showrunners are sought, the final three episodes of the prequel will premiere on STARZ. The prequel was initially supposed to wrap up its season, but the production crew discovered a better way to do so.

Why Did Starz Cancel Dangerous Liaisons?

Despite the fact that Starz management had great confidence in their period drama project, insiders claim the team decided to cancel it. A spokeswoman cited the program’s low viewership as the cause. Season one’s final three episodes will air as scheduled.

We’re not at all surprised by how well the program has done as it was originally designed to capitalize on the legacy of both the classic story and the legendary 1980s film that became its own classic.

The Montreaux Affair is a prequel set in France decades before the events of the original book, which may not constitute a major spoiler. Additionally, the show landed stars like Nicholas Denton, who co-starred as the Vicomte de Valmont, and Alice Englert, who played Camille.

Although Starz executives still appreciate the premise of the show Dangerous Liaisons, it did not find an audience. It’s bad since they do a lot of fantastic work, but the show hasn’t attracted the audience it needs to stay on the air.

The program’s premiere only saw a 0.03 rating among viewers in the 18- to 49-year-old age range.

Dangerous Liaisons is no longer progressing, and it’s easy to understand why. It is a missed chance and would have been Sky’s second period drama after Becoming Elizabeth.

The new prequel’s potential for popularity on other networks is unknown, although it did well on Starz.
