Aaron Mark is the creator of the horror-comedy series “The Horror of Dolores Roach” on Amazon Prime. It is based on the same podcast, which took its cue from Mark’s own stage production of “Empanada Loca.” The show centres on Dolores, who gets a second chance at life after serving a wrongful 16-year sentence to prison. Is Dominic Dead or Alive?
Dolores Roach’s main character’s ex-boyfriend is Dominic Arfonso. He makes a brief cameo in the first episode’s opening moments as Dolores recounts the incidents that led to her imprisonment. Anthony Grant, an actor, plays Dominic in the show. Grant is most recognised for his recurring roles in series like “Star Trek: Discovery” and the vampire drama “V-Wars” on Netflix. Grant’s Dominic is essential in setting the course of the events that take Dolores down a perilous path. When Dominic noticed the feds were drawing near to him, he set up Dolores to take the fall for his illegal drug business, it is revealed. He was additionally cheating on Dolores.
When Dolores gets let out of prison, she looks for Dominic but is unable to locate him. Instead, she only hears rumours about what transpired to him, with some neighbours inferring that he fled the nation while others asserting that he perished. When Dolores eventually admits th at Dominic set her up and abandoned her to suffer in prison, she is nevertheless still plagued by her past. She thus engages Ruthie, a private eye, to discover Dominic’s whereabouts. Dominic died in a house fire in the Dominican Republic, according to Ruthie. Luis, though, believes Dominic staged his demise and is still alive. The grandmother of Nellie, Sophie, is related to Dominic.
Dolores learns through Sophie that Dominic is still alive and still sends her a Christmas present each year. But Dolores finds it hard to believe this information given Sophie’s condition. Dolores intimidates Caleb, her neighbour who turned her life into a podcast and made money from it, at the conclusion of season 1. Caleb protects himself from Dolores’ anger by telling her where Dominic is. We don’t see who Dolores discovers at the mansion when she gets there, though. Dominic’s destiny remains a mystery at the end of the first season.
In the end, it appears that Dominic is still alive, and the false information Dolores receives appears to be nothing more than a diversion. It is difficult to explain that Caleb would lie to Dolores when he is in danger when she threatens him. Thus, it is hinted that Dominic is still alive in some way despite having pretended to die years ago. Dominic may have been involved in some significant crimes and needed to flee from law enforcement, it is also implied.
Dolores’ response to the person who opens the mansion door in the season one finale scene strongly implies that her assumptions that Dominic was still alive were correct. A second season of the podcast, on which the series is based, delves deeper into Dolores’ story and provides information regarding Dominic’s whereabouts after leaving Washington Heights. Because of this, fans will probably have to wait until the second season of the show to learn what actually happened to Dominic and what he has been doing while pretending to be dead.
