Remembering Eric Weiner: A Life Celebrated in Obituary

  • DCS

The information of Eric Weiner’s obituary were provided by his extended family.

On Friday, February 24, 2023, at his home in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, he died away peacefully at the age of 62, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 8, 1960. When Weiner began attending school in Brooklyn in 1967, the family moved to Port Jervis, New York.

Weiner graduated from Port Jervis High School in the second-highest place, and he continued his study at Cornell University.

In the obituary for Eric Weiner, it was also said that he loved science and cared deeply about the environment.

But in 1982, he earned a self-created joint degree in environmental science from Cornell College of Arts and Sciences and graduated.

His suggestion for an independent major was implemented by the college for a number of years as a guide for other students who wanted to create their own majors.

Weiner decided to serve in the Peace Corps as a volunteer in 1983. He spent more than two years teaching science and maths at a high school in Western Samoa, an island nation in the South Pacific, where he also honed his Samoan language skills.

He made close friends, thoroughly assimilated into the community, joined a family tribe, and got traditional symbolic tattoos on both legs while living in Western Samoa.

Throughout his entire life, he remained actively involved in the group of ex-Peace Corps volunteers.

While in Western Samoa, Weiner helped train the personnel to use the computer that was given to the Peace Corps office.

After a few years, he returned to the US and joined the Peace Corps in Washington, DC, where he used his knowledge of the rapidly growing field of computer networking services to help with the global installation of computer systems in their offices.

Weiner gained to prominence as a specialist in the burgeoning computer networking services sector. He moved to New York after a few months, where his sister Cheryl introduced him to Mary Dryden, a friend of hers.

Dryden and Weiner developed a solid bond and fell in love very fast. They eventually got hitched in 1992. Together, they create Analytic Microsystems, their own business.

However, many customers saw Weiner and Dryden as valued friends and consultants in addition to being suppliers.

They relocated to Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, in 1995. Their three children were reared here, along with a number of pets and a steady stream of friends and guests.

Weiner was a chef with a natural aptitude and sensibility; his dishes frequently featured a lot of fish with a local flavour.

But when Weiner was told he had pancreatic cancer in June 2022, everything changed. Even when things were tough, he never lost his sunny outlook.

His wife, kids, mother, siblings, and friends never stopped loving and supporting him during the eight months of his deteriorating health.
