Martin: The Reunion Brought The Cast Together Along With Some Special Guests

  • DCS

These past few years, reunion specials for legendary television shows have seemed to be all the rage. The cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunited for a joyful retrospective at the end of 2020, and the stars of Friends would do the same in 2021. Martin Lawrence, Tisha Cambpell, and their previous castmates have reunited for Martin: The Reunion. The actors reflect on their time on the hit ’90s comedy in the first trailer for the event. Not only that, but the band will also be joined by a few special guests.

Aside from Martin Lawrence (Martin Payne) and Tisha Campbell (Gina Waters-Payne), the BET+ production will also include Tichina Arnold (Pam James) and Carl Anthony Payne II as prominent cast members (Cole Brown). Sadly, Tommy Strawn actor Thomas Mikail Ford, who died in 2016, will not feature in the film. Though his co-stars are expected to pay tribute to him throughout the special, as evidenced by the trailer, and dedicate the long-awaited retrospective to him.

The ensemble can be seen laughing over old times and discussing the comedy’s enduring significance in the film. What’s even better is that other celebrities show up and participate in the fun. Snoop Dogg, a hip-hop legend, is among others who will sit down with the cast and discuss the show’s impact. Tommy Davidson, an actor and comedian, and singer Brian McKnight, who both appeared on the Fox sitcom back in the day, are also featured in the video. I’m inclined to wager that a few other well-known faces will show up as well.

Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell were ecstatic when the special was announced. Fans on social media, however, sounded ecstatic about the possibility of the stars getting together and debating the finest Martin episodes and more. Lawrence, 57, and his coworkers are sure to have some juicy behind-the-scenes tales to tell, and I’m looking forward to a cup of tea being spilled.

Aside from that, the teaser indicates that the group will talk about the possibility of a reboot. Over the years, this has been discussed, with the cast offering their opinions here and there. In 2020, Tisha Campbell issued an update, stating that the stars were still interested but were all preoccupied with their hectic schedules. We’ll just have to see how they react to the proposal right now.

This Martin: The Reunion trailer is heavy on nostalgia, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Martin Lawrence and his co-stars will be catching up and dishing on one of the great Black sitcoms of the 1990s.

On June 16, Martin: The Reunion premiered on BET+.
