The CBC Television comedy-drama series “Moonshine,” created by Sheri Elwood, is about the Finley-Cullens, the proud proprietors of the resort known as The Moonshine, whose idyllic piece of hope quickly starts to turn into a living nightmare because none of their flawed brood seems fit to take over the business. Rhian, Lidia’s younger sister, wants to utilise The Moonshine to spotlight herself, but Lidia wants to rebuild the coastal property.
In addition to the two sisters, the Finley-Cullen family also consists of Nora, Sammy, and Ryan, each of whom is juggling a challenging personal situation. Therefore, it is inevitable that things would become comically chaotic and out of order when they all band together and fight to dominate the family business. Viewers are naturally interested in the actual filming locations because the show is set in the fictional coastal village of Foxton. Moonshine Filming Locations
Filming for “Moonshine” took place in Hubbards, Nova Scotia, and the surrounding area. Under the working title “Feudal,” production on the first season is said to have started in August 2020 and ended in late October 2020. The sophomore round was filmed beginning in July 2021 and wrapping up in October 2021. The third movie’s main photography started in late July 2022 and ended in October of the same year. Let’s get started with a full list of every individual location that may be seen in the CBC Television series right now!
Hubbards, Nova Scotia
Hubbards, an unincorporated rural settlement on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, makes an excellent stand-in for the fictional town of Foxton, which is also situated on the same region. The Hubbards Cove FM radio station and the renowned Shore Club seafood restaurant, located at 250 Shore Club Road in Hubbards, may be recognisable local landmarks and businesses to the audience throughout the entire series. The rural Hubbards hamlet, like the show’s characters, is an integral part in moving the plot along because it has its own impact on the programme.

Hubbards, which is well known as a popular summer vacation destination, has a large number of cottages, inns, restaurants, and campers, making it the perfect place to film the scenes that take place in the fictitious coastal town of Moonshine. Sheri Elwood, the show’s creator, said in a September 2021 interview with Saltwire, “Part of the inspiration for writing this show was so I could write myself a summer vacation in Nova Scotia because it’s been a long time since I’ve been back.”

Elwood continued, “I think that we really lucked out throughout the pandemic. It was amazing. We felt so safe because we were one of the first series to appear on camera. We constructed our own backlot, and I actually had the impression that we were in a lovely, secure fairyland—a summer camp for adults. A yacht club, roughly ten beaches, a campground, and a plethora of parks, including Cleveland Beach Provincial Park, Hubbards Provincial Park, Hubbards Community Waterfront and Park, and Queensland Beach Provincial Park, make up Hubbards’ attractive surroundings.
