Lauren Salzman Today: Post-Nxivm Verdict Update

  • DCS

The HBO original documentary series “The Vow” examines the inner workings of the NXIVM “self-help group” in great detail. Following the revelation of the group’s illegal actions by a number of former members, this contentious organisation was thrust into the public eye. Even a New York Times exposé from 2017 exposed the existence of an inner cult within the business where women were used as “sex slaves” to serve their “masters,” including Keith Raniere, the leader of NXIVM. Naturally, as it would have been difficult for Keith to accomplish everything on his own, “The Vow” emphasised how he had the assistance of a mother-daughter team—Nancy Salzman and Lauren Salzman—who remained devoted to him throughout.

Who Is Lauren Salzman?

Nancy Salzman, a professional hypnotist and former nurse who co-founded NXIVM with Keith Raniere in 1998, is the mother of Lauren Salzman. Nancy Salzman promoted NXIVM as a self-help organisation based on humanitarian values. When Lauren was 21, Rolling Stone claims that’s when she first met Keith. They quickly started having sexual relations, around 2001. This reportedly continued until 2008 or 2009 while she progressed through the ranks of DOS, the “master-slave” sorority in NXIVM. In the meanwhile, circa 2006, Lauren, a DOS slave master and leader of the NXIVM, started enlisting famous people as members. She claimed that she was motivated by Keith’s promises to start a family with her.

There have been rumours that Lauren once had as many as 22 “slaves” working for her within DOS itself. She soon ascended up the ranks because to her dedication to Keith and work ethic. She even said that she disregarded Keith’s requests and kept a Mexican slave locked up in a room from March 2010 to April 2012. For the duration of these two years, Lauren frequently used the threat of deportation to coerce the slave into performing her will. She joined the DOS inner circle in 2017, deepening her membership in the organisation before its final exposure and fall from grace. She had three weekly meetings with a group of other ladies to take nude images to send to Keith.

Where Is Lauren Salzman Today?

When Keith Raniere was detained in Mexico on March 25, 2018, Lauren Salzman was with him. Her sole inclination was to defend Keith when the cops arrived that day, so she gave it her all but ultimately failed. As a result of all she did on that day and in the past, she was detained in July along with four other women, including her mother, on suspicion of racketeering. Lauren ultimately decided to testify against Keith and, by disclosing the horrific details of the cult, emerged as a major witness for the prosecution. She acknowledged that she was an expert at branding, prostitution, human trafficking, controlling the women’s weight and behaviour, and even collateral.

Lauren entered a guilty plea to the charges of racketeering and racketeering conspiracy in March 2019. Her sentencing hearing had been set for September 2019, however it has been postponed indefinitely. She really faced up to 20 years in prison, but her unusual cooperation with the authorities was a major factor in determining what her actual sentence would be, according to the New York Post. After all, it was a huge deal that she decided to testify against Keith, and that’s presumably why her hearing wasn’t pushed back earlier. Thus, she remained under house arrest with a GPS tracker that recorded her every step until she was finally given just 5 years of probation in New York in July 2021. Additionally, she was mandated to complete 300 hours of community service.
