The upcoming independent drama film “Shook,” directed by Amar Wala, stars Saamer Usmani and Amy Forsyth in the key characters. The film is Wala’s first scripted feature film direction, and it is based on a screenplay she co-wrote with Adnan Khan. In the middle of June 2023, Usmani and Forsyth were cast in the lead parts. The project was probably filmed in Toronto, Ontario, mostly in the Scarborough neighbourhood, which serves as the principal backdrop for the narrative, beginning in June 2023. On June 30, 2023, the movie’s principal photography was declared to have finished. It is presently in the post-production phase.

The Secret Trial 5 is the documentary feature film directed by Canadian-Indian director Amar Wala. Based on the same-titled short film by Wala from 2019, “Shook.” It is partially based on Wala’s experiences growing up in Toronto, Canada, particularly his college graduation, his parent’s divorce, and the Parkinson’s disease diagnosis of his father.

The movie will feature Ashish, also known as “Ash,” a young aspiring writer who accepts his father’s invitation to lunch. But during the conversation, Ash discovers a truth that would forever alter his life and his relationship with his father. The story centres on Ash’s difficulties with self-identity and purpose and is set in the wealthy immigrant neighbourhood of Toronto’s Scarborough.

In the title part, Saamer Usmani plays Ashish, also known as “Ash.” In the historical drama series “Regin,” Usmani won acclaim for his recurring role as Martin. As Chris in the HBO comedy-drama “Succession,” he is very well recognised. Other television programmes that Usmani has worked on include “Inventing Anna,” “What If,” and “Katy Keene.” In “Shook,” actor Amy Forsyth will play Claire alongside him. Forsyth won praise from critics for her performance as Gertie in the 2021 Oscar-winning movie “CODA.” Her performance as Caroline “Carrie” Astor in “The Gilded Age” is likewise well-known.

Ash’s estranged father Vijay will be portrayed in the movie by actor Bernard White. Shows like “The Resident,” “Roar,” “Big Sky,” and “Little America” are among White’s credits. He is well-known for playing Firouz in the critically acclaimed Netflix dark comedy series “Beef.” Ash’s mother Nisha is played by actress Pamela Sinha. The role of Miranda Powell in the ill-fated post-apocalyptic drama series “Y: The Last Man” is what Sinha is best known for. Supporting parts are anticipated for actors Sharjil Rasool, Faizan Khan, Izad Etemadi, Darrin Baker, and Sammy Azero.

With funding from Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates, “Shook” is being produced by Film Forge and Scarborough Pictures. Producing duties are shared by Ryan Bobkin (from “Infinity Pool”), Soko Negash (from “Witness”), and Karen Harnisch and Amar Wala. Travis Farncombe serves as executive producer. Although a date has not yet been decided, Elevation Pictures will distribute “Shook” in Canada.
