The third installment of Disney’s “The Princess Diaries” film series apparently centres on a biracial youngster who learns that Mia Thermopolis, the Princess of Genovia, is her half-sister. She leaves for Genovia to live with her royal kin after discovering the same. A “high-school-aged” lead is anticipated for the coming-of-age movie. Who will play the main character is still a mystery according to Disney. The protagonist of the first movie is a shy American woman named Mia, who must choose between abdicating her rightful crown and ruling a European kingdom.
Aadrita Mukerji, known for penning the episodes of the action series “Reacher” on Amazon Prime Video, the superhero series “Supergirl” on The CW, and the action series “Scorpion” on CBS, is the writer of the third movie. She has also appeared in episodes of “The Endgame” and “Quantum Leap” on NBC. ‘Reacher’ and ‘Quantum Leap’ both included Mukerji on the production team as a producer and co-executive producer.
Though she hasn’t officially joined the cast of the movie, Anne Hathaway, who portrays the lead character Mia in the first two films, might appear in it. “More than just entertaining it, I’m rooting for it. The actress said to Entertainment Tonight in October 2022, “I think we would make it happen if there was any way to get Julie Andrews [who plays Clarisse Renaldi] involved. In response to a query regarding the making of the new movie, Anne Hathaway remarked, “It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things.”
However, Julie Andrews might not appear in the third movie. “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible,” the actress said to Access Hollywood. It was discussed fairly soon after [the second sequel] was released, but how many years have passed since then? And Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older than I am. Additionally, I’m not sure where it would run or float,” she continued.
Disney hasn’t yet revealed who will direct the picture. Garry Marshall, who passed away in July 2016, directed the first two films in the series. The third movie is being made, nevertheless, by Debra Martin Chase, who also co-produced the first two. The Preacher’s Wife, starring Denzel Washington, and Just Wright, starring Queen Latifah, are among the films she has produced. Executive producing is Melissa Stack, who also wrote the fantasy films “Godmothered” for Disney+ and “The Other Woman,” starring Cameron Diaz. After the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike is over, the movie’s production might start.
