More performances at NBCUniversal’s Peacock have ended almost as quickly as they began. According to a Deadline report on Friday, one of the most recent shows to be canceled is the brand-new series Vampire Academy. After only one season, which began in September on Peacock, it ends abruptly. The majority of the reviews were favorable, and Peacock executives allegedly liked the show’s creative direction, but not enough people watched it to warrant ordering a second season.
Vampire Academy was created by Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre for Peacock based on the Richelle Mead book series. The 2014 movie with the same name, which was also based on the original books, has no relation to the television series. In the program, Daniela Nieves plays a Moroi princess vampire while Sisi Stringer plays Rose Hathaway, a Dhampir guardian-in-training, as the two attend St. Vladimir’s Academy.
Andre Dae Kim, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Jonetta Kaiser, Andrew Liner, Rhian Blundell, and J. August Richards are featured on the program as well. Along with Emily Cummins, Don Murphy, Susan Montford, Deepak Nayar, and Jillian DeFrehn, it is executive produced by Plec and MacIntyre.
One of Us Is Lying Has Been Axed After 2 Seasons
One of Us Is Lying has also been terminated at Peacock after two seasons, it has been reported. The program had its 2021 premiere, and by early 2022, it had been renewed for a second season. Similar to Vampire Academy, the second season debuted in October, and Peacock had been pleased with the show overall, but less so with the poor viewership.
One of Us Is Lying, created by Erica Saleh, is based on a book written by Karen M. McManus. It follows a group of high school students who are each suspected of having something to do with the death of a classmate. The cast included Alimi Ballard, Jessica McLeod, Melissa Collazo, Mark McKenna, Cooper van Grootel, Chibuikem Uche, Marianly Tejada, and Annalisa Cochrane. Following Dario Madrona’s tenure as showrunner for season 1, Erica Saleh took over for the second season.
Despite the fact that both of these series were canceled, there is still some hope for them. Both Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying are now being shopped around, so these stories may continue if another streaming provider or network decides to pick them up. You can currently watch the two programs on Peacock.
