Do Retribution, an adolescent drama on Netflix, tells the tale of two girls who wish to exact revenge on those who have wronged them. A straightforward tale about the good folks wanting to make the evil ones pay for their transgressions quickly becomes a more convoluted situation. The distinction between the story’s heroes and villains becomes more hazy as earlier behaviours come to light. In order to examine other people’s acts, perspective becomes crucial, and the protagonists ultimately have to make a decision. They either hold on to their retaliation or they let it go. Here is what the “Do Revenge” characters’ ending signifies. Spoilers follow.
Do Revenge Plot Synopsis
Drea didn’t come from a wealthy household, but thanks to her hard work and determination, she had become the school’s top student. She had the ideal group of female friends and was dating the school’s standout student. She was about to confirm her enrollment at Yale. But then one day, everything suddenly collapses on her. She transmits a video to her boyfriend just before the summer break at his request, and the video winds up on every student’s phone the following day at school. Drea is put in an extremely awkward situation, which negates all of her hard work. She is aware that her boyfriend, Max, purposely leaked the film, but she lacks the evidence to back up her claim, so Max will get away with it.
Drea encounters a girl named Eleanor while her friends avoid her. Eleanor describes her own story, in which a particular girl outed her as a lesbian a few years ago and branded her as some sort of pervert, after hearing about Drea. Eleanor was never fully able to recover from it. The two girls get close because of their shared trauma, and together they devise a strategy. Eleanor will help Drea bring down Max, and Drea will aid Eleanor in getting back at the person who wrecked her image. What seems to be a simple strategy in the beginning ends up turning out to be something quite different.
Do Revenge Ending: How do Drea and Eleanor Get Revenge on Max?
Drea was confident that Max was responsible for the release of her footage. Drea was aware that despite being her boyfriend, he was sufficiently vengeful to hurt her in this manner. He, however, denies any involvement when she outright accuses him of doing it. In addition, he founds a male feminist organisation at the school and carries on with his life as usual, leaving Drea to deal with the fallout from the leak. Drea comes up with the idea to expose him because she finds it offensive that he got away with it.
Drea thinks she has something to use to expose Max’s hypocrisy when Eleanor hacks into Max’s phone and finds the chats that reveal that Max has been hanging out with a lot of females while keeping all of his affairs a secret from his current girlfriend, who is also Drea’s ex-best friend. To her astonishment, though, Max and his buddies are able to make things work in his advantage. They contend that because Max is involved in a polyamorous relationship, his affairs cannot be viewed as cheating. His numerous partnerships simply serve to highlight how forward-thinking he actually is, if anything.
After this disaster, Drea understands that the only way she will ever be able to demonstrate Max’s guilt is if he admits it directly, in terms that cannot be manipulated in any other manner. At a covert party he throws, she manages to accomplish it with Eleanor’s assistance. Eleanor provides Drea a brooch with a hidden camera on it since phones aren’t permitted there so they can record Max’s confession. Later on, though, Drea comes to the conclusion that her pursuit of this revenge dream has only made matters worse. She was so engrossed in it that she neglected her studies and lost her job at Yale as a result. She had become so egotistical that she was acting just like the person she was trying to destroy. She destroys the brooch to put an end to it. However, Max suddenly shows his true colours.
Max learns via Drea and Eleanor’s phone conversations that they had been working together against him. He takes pride in how he ended Drea’s life. It turns out that Max, rather than being glad for his girlfriend’s success and accomplishments, became envious and believed that Drea was getting all the attention, never realising that he had provided her the social position she was so appreciating. He made the decision to undermine Drea when he realised how close she was to realising her dream of attending Yale. He persuaded her to produce a film for him, which he then distributed to every student in the school. He makes a full confession and vows to further ruin Drea and Eleanor’s lives. For a brief moment, it appears as though he will take it this time as well.
Eleanor reveals that she had her own covert camera all along while Drea bemoans having destroyed the brooch. Max’s entire confession has been captured, so to speak. Now all they have to do is display it to the partygoers as a whole. After that, everyone starts to oppose Max. He is unable to deny or manipulate the footage in any way. When even his best buddy stops supporting him, Max recognises that his reputation has been ruined. Drea ultimately exacts her retribution as a result of Max’s actions being shunned.
Why did Eleanor Want Revenge on Drea?
Due to the fact that they both had their reputations ruined by the individuals they had trusted, Drea and Eleanor became close. Max was the one who, in Drea’s opinion, ruined everything. Eleanor’s first confidant regarding her sexuality was a girl. In addition to outing her, this girl also added to the account of Eleanor’s failed attempt at a kiss. Eleanor was totally devastated by the way she purposefully depicted her as a sexual predator. Eleanor answers that it was a girl by the name of Carissa who assaulted her. The truth that Drea had actually done it to Eleanor and had entirely forgotten about it is only made known much later.
Eleanor became a hermit as a result of what happened, even if it was only a few years ago. It turns out that Drea is a narcissist who is so preoccupied with herself that she doesn’t even recall who she is hurting along the road. She had assumed that Drea would remember something like this. Eleanor tries to exact retribution when she learns that Drea is unaware of who she is. While Max had leaked Drea’s video, Eleanor is the one who wants to fully destroy her.
Drea’s life is taken over by Eleanor, who forces her to ruin Carrisa’s life. Eleanor realises that Drea is still the same person she was when she initially ruined Eleanor and decides to stop. This persuades her to carry out the plan and destroy everything positive in Drea’s life. She undermines her Yale application and shatters her bond with Russ. She actually doesn’t have to do anything, which is interesting. This terrible road is one that Drea has chosen for herself. Eleanor resolves to utilise the initial strategy against Max to destroy any chance of a positive development in Drea’s life in order to put the icing on the cake for her. However, Drea regains her composure before she can accomplish this.
Drea reminds everyone at the gathering who Eleanor was prior to getting a nose operation and dropping the name Nora. She also discloses Eleanor’s sexual orientation once more by saying that she likes Max’s sister. All of the anguish that Eleanor had hoped to forget is brought back by this. But this time, Drea is aware of her error as soon as it occurs. She acknowledges that Eleanor was accurate in claiming that Drea had not altered at all. Eleanor tried to be a good friend to her despite the fact that she had been quite self-centered and resentful. Drea continued to put her own wants ahead of those of her friends since she was so preoccupied with her own problems. She’s prepared to change now though.
Eleanor realises that Drea has finally changed for the better when she burns the brooch that may have helped expose Max. Eleanor had always wished for this. She had wanted Drea to change for the better and for them to remain close friends outside of the confines of the revenge vow more than she had wanted revenge. Drea finally arrives there after a long and winding journey, and Eleanor also lets go of her rage and her need for retribution at that time. After exposing Max, they continue their friendship where they left off and put a stop to the chapter of retaliation.
