Another significant spoiler for season three of “Only Murders in the Building” has just surfaced. On January 17, Selena Gomez posted a TikTok video on her account that included her co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin as well as a well-known name: none other than Meryl Streep. The video also features returning guest performers Paul Rudd and Andrea Martin. We’re on set, Gomez announces. The group has returned! She then pans to Rudd before turning to Streep, who really inquires about any needs.

Soon after Gomez posted her video, Martin did likewise by posting a picture of himself, Streep, Rudd, Short, and Gomez on Twitter. The third season of “Only Murders in the Building” has officially started filming, he writes. A dream cast, as they say.

Fans first discovered about Jesse Williams’ addition to the cast of season three back in October 2022. His casting was first announced by Deadline, and it was then verified by the show’s Twitter account. Williams tweeted a single detective emoji in addition to the news.
On August 23, “OMITB” concluded its second season. In the final seconds of the season finale, it actually disclosed the key question for season three: who killed Ben Glenroy? In the season’s climactic episode, the show jumps ahead a year and introduces Rudd as Ben, another new cast member who tragically passes away. Viewers will get to see more of the enigmatic actor in season three, just before he passed away. Williams has performed on Broadway in real life, most recently in the critically praised run of “Take Me Out.” Williams is most recognised for his work on “Grey’s Anatomy.” He might portray a fictitious Broadway star in season three.
On July 11, 2022, Hulu made the announcement that the show had been picked up for a third season. This occurred shortly after the show was among the most nominated TV shows at the 2022 Emmys, with a whopping 17 nominations for its debut season, including outstanding comedy series. It received two awards, one of which went to Nathan Lane for best guest star in a comedy series.
In a statement regarding the renewal back in July, Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, stated, “‘Only Murders in the Building’ is the true crown jewel of our slate. “The fact that it appeals to people of all ages, combines comedy and heart, and takes a wholly novel approach is a mark and testament of the effort done by Dan, John, Steve, Marty, and Selena. Because viewers have repeatedly told us they want more of this story, we are happy to be able to keep sharing the tales of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.”
After Bunny is killed in season two, Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) rush to clear their names, and it appears that they will be the main suspects in Ben’s murder as well. The third season’s new mystery also shifts the action’s focal point away from the Arconia for the first time.

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 Plot
The mystery of who murdered Ben Glenroy backstage at the Broadway production Oliver directed and starred Charles in appears to be the focus of season three. We don’t yet know Ben’s relationship to the rest of the cast. A lot could have transpired in the year that passed between the murder and the events of season two.

Naturally, Martin, Short, and Gomez will reunite for another season of mischief and mystery as the dynamic team known for solving crimes. We are aware that Rudd has joined the cast as a result of the most recent episode. It appears likely that they will attend because we also see Andrea Martin as Joy and Zoe Colletti as Lucy in the closing seconds. Williams will take on a brand-new role. Streep is scheduled to join the cast as well, but her character’s specifics have not yet been made public.
Some other Arconian actors and characters, like Jackie Hoffman’s Uma Heller, Michael Cyril Creighton’s cat-lover Howard Morris, Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s Detective Williams, Nathan Lane’s Teddy Dimas, and James Caverly’s Theo Dimas, might also return. Given that there was a short interval between the first two seasons’ releases, we may anticipate that season three will follow suit and be released sometime in 2023.
Season two was given the all-clear in September 2021, went into production in December 2021, and debuted on television in June 2022. Season three of “Only Murders in the Building” could return as early as the first half of 2023, most likely with a summer release date, if season three production keeps to the same filming and postproduction timetable.
