While everyone is focused on the rise and impending demise of Netflix and Prime Video, Apple TV+ has quietly built up a fantastic library of TV episodes and films. One of the most recent additions is “The Big Door Prize.” David West developed The Big Door Prize, a reading from the title novel by M.O. Walsh, relates the tale of the people of Deerfield who one day come across the enigmatic Morpho machine at the neighbourhood grocery shop. The gadget provides users with their life potential in exchange for $2, their fingerprints, and their social security numbers.
The 150th Deerfest celebration continues in the season 1 finale, “Deerfest: Part Two,” while a storm develops overhead. Trina (Djouliet Amara) and Jacob (Sammy Fourlas) come to the realisation that just because something is coming to an end doesn’t mean it wasn’t worthwhile. A turning point in Dusty and Cass’ relationship (Chris O’Dowd) occurs. Reuben (Damon Gupton) discovers the whole truth—or at least some of it—about Hana (Ally Maki). The Big Door Prize Season 1 Episode 10 Recap
The Deerfest is in full swing when the episode opens. Visitors to the festival take pictures, ride the mechanical bull, and eat a variety of foods. Giorgio has set up a booth and is claiming to have the largest pasta in the entire globe. The happy ambience is in stark contrast to the depressing ambiance at the grocery store, where Mr. Johnson had experienced a heart arrest. However, it was a blessing that the school nurse was nearby since she was able to save the man. The sword is discovered to still be inserted into the back of the Morpho machine when Mr. Johnson is being transported to the hospital.
At the festival, Dusty and Cass talk about how their relationship with puffins began. It turns out that they each remember it differently. Dusty recalls Cass telling him she thought puffins were cute, but Cass says she just remembers agreeing with Dusty on that point.
That is how often memories function. Because of the experience we had at the moment, they become mixed up. While Dusty concentrates on the notion that Cass thought that puffins were cute because she wanted him to like her, neither party appears overly concerned about it. Trina says she doesn’t want Jacob and Trina to end up like her parents while they are walking around the festival grounds together. Despite his initial outrage, Jacob later comes to terms with the fact that Trina is correct. Every relationship does not have to end happily. And just because it didn’t have a happy ending doesn’t make it any less fantastic.
Reuben discovers that he had already met Hana somewhere else in the town. She was there the evening he discovered the Morpho card bearing the word Priest. Hana appears to be scared as a result of that insight and Reuben’s frailty and makes an attempt to flee the area. Cass confronts her mother and gives her a hug after defending herself against a neighbour who accused her of making money off the Morpho cards. Whatever Izzy had anticipated, this obviously wasn’t it. Cass transforms her mother’s and her own resentment into something constructive. Away from them, Giorgio and Nat begin a brand-new endeavour where they can each be who they are, while Beau, who is still mourning the loss of his eldest child, finds some measure of comfort and pride by rescuing Izzy when she becomes stuck in the maze.
The Big Door Prize Season 1 Episode 10 Ending: Who is Hana? Why Has She Come to Deerfield?
One of “The Big Door Prize’s” most perplexing characters is Hana. Even while the villagers have started to accept her as one of them, she has purposefully withheld much information about herself. Reuben discovers in this episode that Hana worked as a barman in the town where he discovered the Morpho card, which led him to decide to pursue a career as a priest. This indicates that the town also had a Morpho machine.
Hana almost runs into the deer from earlier episodes as she attempts to flee Deerfield. She soon realises that Kolton had his accident here, which appears to persuade her to come back. Evidently, the enigma surrounding the Morpho machine is connected to Hana’s past. Maybe she works for the firm that built the gadget and now travels from town to town with it.
What Happens to the Morpho Machine?
Mr. Johnson attempted to pry open the rear of the Morpho machine with a sword in the last episode, and as a result, experienced a cardiac crisis. The hospital contacts Izzy, who is listed as his emergency contact, because he is alone. The Morpho machine, which is next to the Theremin, starts to transform in the meantime. The townspeople find the Morpho machine gleaming like never before as they return from the celebration in a light rainstorm. When Cass and Dusty glance at the screen, they see that it is asking the Deerfield citizens if they are prepared for the next phase.
At this point, Hana shows up. She has blue specks on her skin that are identical to Mr. Johnson’s. She acknowledges that this is a first for the machine. Many civilizations use insects like butterflies and moths to symbolise transformation or change. It’s possible that what we’re seeing here is the mechanical equivalent of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.
Will Dusty and Cass Remain Together?
The Big Door Prize is firmly grounded in character interactions despite its fantasy and science fiction components, and probably no relationship is more crucial to the story than the one between Dusty and Cass. They started dating before they fully understood the consequences of a committed relationship. As healthy a couple as two individuals can be, they are. And their love for one another is obvious. But now that the Morpho machine has arrived, they understand that they must live their lives on their own.
Dusty and Cass therefore decide to take a vacation from each other for at least a few months and find happiness independently while they are stuck in the air after the power goes out and the Ferris wheel they are on stops turning. While Dusty travels back to Whistler, Canada, to ski down the mountain from his past, Cass is likely to go there to retrace her youth’s steps in Italy.
