Based on Helen Wan’s 2013 novel The Partner Track, Georgina Lee created the courtroom drama Partner Track. The Netflix original series debuted earlier this year to mixed reviews. The drama, which features Arden Cho, Alexandra Turshen, Dominic Sherwood, and Rob Heaps among others, centers on Ingrid Yun (Cho), a young attorney who must reconcile her career and her moral compass as she advances up the corporate ladder at a prestigious New York City law firm.
Praise for Partner Track was mostly focused on how well it was able to depict the high-stress climate of the legal sector and on how creative it was to cast an Asian-American woman in the major position. Partner Track was terminated earlier last week, which was unfortunate news for Netflix Original series fans. What’s worse is that Lee’s program is one of many that Netflix canceled after just one season. Fans of Partner Track may also enjoy How to Get Away With Murder, which aired on ABC from 2014 to 2020 and stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating in an Emmy-winning performance. The program centers on a criminal defense lawyer and law professor who, while elevating her pupils to the position of interns, becomes embroiled in a convoluted chain of circumstances. Fans of Partner Track will enjoy this series since it is packed with surprises, turns, betrayals, and precarious allegiances. More than anything, this TV show served as Davis’ weekly platform to demonstrate her talent as one of the industry’s most accomplished actors.
Only Murders in the Building
The American mystery-comedy television show Only Murders in the Building was produced by Steve Martin and John Hoffman. In August 2021, the first season’s Hulu premiere took place. The story revolves around three strangers who reside in Manhattan’s The Arconia complex who unintentionally have a common interest in the same true crime podcast. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez play the three characters. They work together to launch their own podcast and solve the murder after an actual murder occurs in their building. Of course, nothing is ever as it seems, and as the group tries to solve the murder’s mystery and their own, their lives are altered irrevocably. The second season of Only Murders in the Building just came out, and a third is on the way.
Suits
If you liked Partner Track, one of the most obvious shows to watch next is the popular series Suits. This courtroom drama, which debuted on the USA Network, takes place in a hypothetical New York City law practice. It centers on Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a college dropout who never went to law school and, as a result, never received a law degree or passed the Bar Exam. He exploits his eidetic recall to talk his way into a job as an associate working with successful closing Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). The nine-season television series, which gave viewers a rush akin to Partner Track, ran until 2019.
The Morning Show
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon play two ladies who are trying to find their way in the world of morning TV news on The Morning Show. This AppleTV+ original series portrays the competitive, patriarchal world that both women must contend with and function in. As a result, they struggle daily with sexism and misogyny, putting in twice as much effort as their male peers for just half as much respect and compensation, and frequently feeling at odds with both their job and their personal selves. These themes mesh flawlessly with Partner Track. The Morning Show is currently preparing to return for a third season, which is even greater news.
