There are numerous stories to be told about the old American West. Hollywood has produced some incredibly amazing movies for the public and has demonstrated a special interest in this situation. There is a lot of room for inventive storytelling and the development of memorable characters when it comes to cowboys, gunslingers, Native Americans, and outlaws. Australia (2008)
Even if “Western” is a genre in movies, we can’t help but notice that it also has a stand-alone atmosphere that we frequently see in other kinds of movies. “Australia” is one such movie. The setting and the plot force us to take advantage of it as a Western drama even though it doesn’t explicitly promote itself as such. Hugh Jackman plays Drover, a rancher in the World War II film “Australia,” who shakes hands with British heiress Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), the inheritor of a ranch, to keep it safe from cattle barons. After embarking on a journey spanning hundreds of miles with the livestock, the two individuals encountered the Japanese forces bombing Darwin. Brimstone (2017)
Martin Koolhoven’s psychological Western “Brimstone” combines Dutch religious tradition with Southern Gothic culture to create a frightening, captivating, and inspirational movie. It stars Guy Pearce, Kit Harington, and Dakota Fanning and recounts the tale of Liz, a mute lady who lives with her husband and kids, and The Reverend, the new preacher, who is her enemy. Cowboys (2020)
“Cowboys,” which was directed by Anna Kerrigan, is the tale of a transgender kid named Joe (Sasha Knight) and his father Troy (Steve Zahn), who flee their house after the boy is unable to convince his mother Sally (Jillian Bell) of how he feels about his own body. Regardless of how Joe feels differently, Sally believes he is a girl. Sally is determined and thinks Troy is the one who implanted “it” in Joe’s head, despite Troy’s best efforts to reason with her. Troy and Joe decide to take the remote road that Montana has to offer as they have no other option. Authorities will soon be searching for them as they explore both interior and exterior nature. Forsaken (2016)
In “Forsaken,” starring Kiefer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, and Demi Moore, a professional gunslinger named John Henry Clayton returns to his birthplace in an attempt to patch things up with his estranged father, Reverend Samuel Clayton. Henry was enlisted in the American Civil War, therefore he was unaware that his mother had passed away a few years prior. When he returns, a gang is terrorizing his community, so he is not exactly welcomed. Will he take up the pistol once more to make a point with the boys, or will he overlook it? Frontera (2014)
In “Frontera,” the murder of Olivia (Amy Madigan), the wife of former Arizona Sheriff Roy (Ed Harris), takes place in the potentially dangerous territory that separates Arizona and Mexico. A guy named Miguel (Michael Peña) arrived illegally in Arizona (U.S.) at the same time as this event; as a result, he is just a suspect. Roy and the current Sheriff Hunt (Aden Young) begin looking into a case that is both a reflection of and emphasized by the complex connection that the two bordering nations—the United States and Mexico—share. High Ground (2020)
“High Ground,” a gripping and complex vengeance thriller, is directed by Stephen Johnson and Stephen Maxwell Johnson. In it, Simon Baker plays Travis, a former soldier who is now a police officer. Travis does not know that Baywara is Gutjuk’s uncle, and Gutjuk does not know that Travis took part in the killing. Hostile Territory (2022)
“Hostile Territory,” a masterfully rendered Western drama by Brian Presley, centers on a Union soldier called Jack (Presley), who discovers upon his return from the Civil War that his house has vanished. His wife has passed away, and his children—who are presumably orphans—have been placed on a train that is traveling farther and farther into the dangerous West. It will be a race against time for Jack to meet his kids again because there are hostile and dangerous tribes out there. He still has a struggle ahead of him even though the conflict is done. How to Blow Up a Pipeline (2023)
Daniel Goldhaber is the director of “How to Blow Up a Pipeline,” which takes place in West Texas. The plot of the film centers on a group of people in their 20s who want to blow up an oil pipeline in protest of climate activism and the fact that one of the people’s mothers has already died as a result of climate change. This film, which was directed by Leah Purcell, is based on Henry Lawson’s 1892 classic short story, “The Drover’s Wife.” The movie ensures that the character has a name that we moviegoers will remember for a very long time, even though the script doesn’t reveal it. While her husband makes his money by moving animals, Molly Johnson and her kids reside in the Australian Outback. As a result, he frequently spends months away from home before coming home. Delarue becomes enraged and murders three innocent people in the place where his brother’s death was reported. It’s also a signal for everyone to assist him in tracking down the murderer. Thus, the entire community is Jon’s problem rather than just a man who shares his traits as a man of war or his gang. In “The Salvation,” we learn what will happen at the end of the confrontation. True History of the Kelly Gang (2020)
Justin Kurzel is the director of the film, which is based on Peter Carey’s 2000 novel of the same name. It narrates the tale of Australian bushranger and outlaw Edward Kelly, well known as Ned Kelly, and his group, the Kelly group, and is set in the 1870s. The bulletproof armor Kelly created and wore during his final gunfight with the police may be the reason he is most well-known. On November 11, 1880, at the age of 25, Kelly was apprehended, put on trial, and hanged.
